| 9 November 2008 | Joseph Chang talks about his new movie ‘My So Called Love’Category: News |
It is 8 years from Joseph Chang’s debut, and he has had a lot of success in his career, and acted in many movies. This time, in “My So Called Love”, it is his first time acting a character who is older than him, and thinks that love is distrustful. Even though he was very nervous before filming, but he is leaving the uncertainty farther and farther behind. He feels “very satisfied”, and thinks that this time’s experience will give him a wonderful change to learn and improve his acting skills. When the director of “My So Called Love”, Li Ding, first invited Joseph to take the role of Xiao Gu, he contemplated about it for a long time, and didn’t give an answer at once. The first problem was that Xiao Gu in the movie was about 10 years older than Jason Chang. Also, Jason could not identify himself with the kind of “disposable” view Xiao Gu has of love. Even though he worked in the entertainment circle for many years, he still firmly believes in love’s loyalty. He also felt at lost of the passionate story he and Da S was supposed to act, because he had no required experience. These were all the reasons for his hesitation to take the role. After thinking about it a lot, he decided to take the role so that he could go past his limits. When telling Director Li that he would take the role, he told the director, “If you believe that I should be able to act this well, then I should believe it too!” The hottest topic of the movie was the bed scene between Joseph and Da S. To Joseph, this is is biggest breakthrough in a love movie. It is the bravest he has ever been with a female actress, and his personality is also very shy. So whenever they were to film a bed scene, he would always ask everyone on the set to leave. In the end, it was Da S’s warm and friendly personality that allowed him to feel more comfortable and successfully complete filming what was one of the hardest bed scenes for him. Besides the bed scene, in “My So Called Love”, another scene that Joseph cannot forget is his crying scene. In the movie, Xiao Gu falls in love with Xiao Mao, but after various events, he is left alone in a bright and cheery cafe to cry. When the director yelled “Cut!”, Joseph found that he could not immediately leave his character. According to him, it was his “first time crying so hard.” This movie allowed Joseph to realize more of his potentials, and he hopes that fans can see more different faces of Joseph Chang!
