With springtime meaning lots of fresh graduates entering companies for the first time, Oricon conducted a survey of 20- to 40-year-olds, asking them which famous person they would like to have as their new co-worker. Sho Sakurai of Arashi and talento Becky took the top spots in the men’s and women’s rankings, respectively.

For the male rankings, one female stated that Sakurai “thinks quickly and seems like the type to remember things about work quickly.” Working as a newscaster for NTV’s “NEWS ZERO,” Sakurai has gained a lot of attention for his opinions. In the survey, he was followed by Teppei Koike of the duo WaT and pro golfer Ryo Ishikawa.

The 23rd Golden Disk Awards took place last night, 10th December at the Seoul Olympic Hall with male group DBSK and female group Jewelry ending up as the winners for the Disk and Digital Daesang Awards respectively.

This year, the organizers had created Daesang awards separately for both the Disk and Digital Bonsang (music) categories. Thanks to it’s oustanding album sales of more than 460,000 copies for Mirotic, it became the best-selling album of the year. And with the same album winning the Best Album of the Year at last month’s 2008 MKMF, they have become double Daesang winners.

Jewelry meanwhile had a stranglehold on the digital realm, thanks to their One More Time song which dominated mobile charts, online music charts, etc. The E.T. dance move in the song also became one of the highlights in 2008.

Actress Miki Mizuno, 34, and K-1 fighter Masato, 29, were announced winners in the “Fur of the Year” contest held by the Japan Fur Association this week. Mizuno appeared in a fur coat and Masato in a fur jacket, both valued at 5 million yen. The award is given to those who “look best in fur.”

“I’ve always wanted a fur product…and for it to happen like this. I’m delighted,” Mizuno said. “When I looked in the mirror, I thought I looked pretty cool,” Masato said.

The 10th Mnet KM Music Festival was held at the Jamsil Olympic Stadium in central Seoul last Saturday.

The gold prize went to Dongbangsingi, Big Bang and Wonder Girls.

DBSK, a pop group consisting of five members, won the most awards – five, including the Album Award and Mobile Popular Award.

Big Bang’s performance melted many a teenage girl’s heart. The group staged “Lies,” “Last Farewell” and “Day by Day” with singer Lee Hyo-ri.

The festival was aired live on local cable channels, Mnet, KM and tvN as well as Mnet Japan.

Super Junior-M perform at the Ninth CCTV-MTV Music Awards

Two songs which respectively remind people of the strong earthquake in China and the Beijing Olympics were named Best Hits at the Ninth CCTV-MTV Music Awards, held Sunday in Beijing.

“Sheng Si Bu Li” (“Together Forever”), which was written shortly after the May 12 earthquake, expressed the unity of Chinese people, while the Olympic song “Welcome to Beijing” showcased Chinese people’s hospitality to the world, the awards committee said.

The video of “Welcome to Beijing,” featuring around 100 Asian celebrities, was named Best Music Video.

Jackie Chan, who lent voice to both songs, shared a special contribution award with “Welcome to Beijing” composer Xiao Ke. Chan sent a video message to thank the committee and fans.

In the individual categories, Karen Mok and Eason Chan were adjudged Most Popular Hong Kong Female and Male Singer respectively. Jolin Tsai and Show Luo won the same titles in the Taiwan category. Taiwan pop-rock band Sodagreen was the Best Group of Hong Kong and Taiwan.

The award for Most Popular Mainland Male Singer went to Pang Long, while actress-turned-singer Chen Hao was named Most Popular Female Singer.

Chen Hao’s win came amid media speculation a week earlier that she already knew she won the award, and that she won by selection, not public voting. Denying this, Chen Hao said that before the function, the organizing committee only invited her to perform a song and nothing else.

The annual CCTV-MTV awards, jointly organized by China Central Television and MTV, were halted last year for various reasons.

Congratulations Han Ye-seul for your many success and yet another nomination for an award!

Actress Han Ye-seul has been nominated as the best female actress for the “Pacific Asia Film Festival” which is opening this December. Her starring in “Miss Gold Digger” has brought her high praise.

She will be the third Korean actress after Son Ye-jin and Jeon Do-yeon in receiving this award.

Han is acting as the femme fatale Gina in the drama “Tazza”.

The Wonder Girls are nominated for the Digital (Online Music Sales) Bonsang award and the Popularity Award at the 23rd Golden Disk Awards. What’s exciting is that So Hot and Nobody are nominated in both categories.

Two teams will be awarded the Popularity award sponsored by Yepp while four teams will be awarded the Digital Bonsang Award based on online music sales. 1 from those four teams will be awarded the Digital (Online Music Sales) Daesang (Grand Prize). For the record, the Wonder Girls won the Digital Online Sales Bonsang award and Popularity award last year. And it still baffles many why they did not manage to win the Best New Group award.

The 23rd Golden Disk Awards will air live on Mnet and KMTV on 10th December starting at 7.00pm (KST). The only way to vote for the Wonder Girls is by phone (ARS#) or mobile voting unfortunately. The ever popular group TVXQ / DBSK / Tohoshinki is up for an award on Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation (YTV) Best Hits Award Show which is scheduled to air November 27th. You can vote for them here. I don’t really know how prestigious the award they’re up for is, but Big East and Cassiopeia can vote for them anyways.

TVXQ is also scheduled to fly to Japan on November 14th to take part in NHK’s live “Love Songs 2008″ concert. TVXQ will share the stage with many of Japan’s top artists and perform “love songs” for this annual event hosted by NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation). Last year, BoA was bestowed the honor of performing for “Love Songs 2007.”

While TVXQ is quite busy in Korea at the moment (Winning 1st and 2nd on Music Bank yesterday for example), they still have activities and doing big things in Japan (Winning 1st on Oricon Daily & Weekly chart with Mirotic another example). As thanksgiving approaches, it seems the TVXQ gravy train isn’t going to stop any time soon.

It has been decided that actress Han Ji Hye will receive the Excellence Award For A Female Actress at the ‘3rd 2008 Korea Drama Festival Awards’ taking place on November 1st

Han Ji Hye performed as Na Dan Poong in the KBS drama, ‘I Hate You, But It’s Fine’ then moved onto the recent role of a heroine crossing the paths of two men in MBC’s ‘East Of Eden.’

Han Ji Hye has managed to cast aside her previous cheerful image and stepping out of her comfort zone has transformed as an actress.

The actress stated that she was “filled with deep emotion about the unexpected award.” And adding, “I wish dress in good clothes and express my thanks to everyone.”

Furthermore, the drama ‘Beethoven Virus’ with actor Kim Myung Min currently active in the role as Kang Mae Ae was selected as the grand prize award winner.
